Komori
Corporation (Sumida-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Satoshi Mochida) announced a
major order for multiple banknote printing systems from the Bureau of Engraving
and Printing, the U.S. Department of the Treasury bureau responsible for
printing U.S. dollar banknotes.
This
order was awarded following a comprehensive bidding evaluation process.
Komori’s
involvement in the security printing industry began in 1958, when the company
began manufacturing banknote printing presses for Japan. In the international
market, Komori delivered banknote printing systems to Bharatiya Reserve Bank
Note Mudran Private Limited in the 1990s under the Reserve Bank of India and
has been actively expanding its security printing business as a new initiative
since 2010.
To
date, Komori has supplied banknote printing systems to such prestigious
institutions as the Bank of England, which issues the British pound, the Banque
de France and Banca d’Italia, which serve as state-owned euro banknote
printers, as well as central banks in Southeast Asian nations such as the
Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. Furthermore, Komori has delivered
banknote printing equipment to countries in the Middle East and Africa,
including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of
the Congo. Over the years, the company has steadily expanded its security
printing business into one of its core operations.
In
the previous fiscal year, Komori received an exceptionally high volume of
inquiries.
